Professional Growth Plan
My approach to leadership is the Style approach. According to Northhouse (2013), the Style approach expanded the concept of leadership beyond personality traits to the actions of the leader toward subordinates in various contexts.
My approach to leadership is divided between getting the job
done and achieving the understanding and collaboration that is necessary for
any team to succeed.
In order to achieve success as an Educational Technology Leader, I must concentrate on two aspects; the task and the relationship behaviors. Achieving objectives is every leader’s goal, and for me, to be able to do it with a team that feels comfortable and confident under their leadership and with each other, is the ultimate goal.
As a School Library Media Specialist, I don’t give classes on a daily bases. My interaction is mainly with classroom teachers to introduce new concepts, to design units that we would co-teach, and conduct workshops about educational practices. Paying attention to the staff members I work with, their needs and their technology levels would help me work effectively with them individually or as a team.
My goals are divided into:
Short-term goals:
Long term goals:

My goals are divided into:
Short-term goals:
- To continue work with my colleagues to introduce and integrate new technologies into our classrooms.
- To seek opportunities to present more at educational conferences such as New Jersey Association of School Librarians (NJASL) and International Society of Technology in Education (ISTE) . My presentations so far concentrated on educational digital tools, and their uses in the classroom. I would like to present about other aspects of educational technology such as teacher's practice that enhance student engagement, effective use of assessments and the use of digital portfolios.
- To work with my district’s administration to incorporate new concepts in education like the Internet of Things (IoT) and Makerspaces into our curriculum to enhance our students' performance and motivation.
Long term goals:
- As an Educational Technology Leader, my first goal would be to become an advocate for the integration of Information literacy standards and research skills into my district's curriculum and eventually on a state level.
- My second goal would be to participate in research and initiatives in coordination with the State Department of Education to improve students’ achievement and teacher’s practice.
